First, let me clarify that the “mayday” is hyperbole as I have a dry/kooky sense of humor generally; I am not in dire straits or anything like that. But I DO need help.

Also, please don’t pile on and make mean comments about how I should have done this or that. Like everyone else in life, I am still learning and sometimes I learn from mistakes.

Now that’s out of the way, I will try to be concise. Here is the current situation:

I live in New York State, which recently started beef with KuCoin over regulatory whatnots. KuCoin notifies me that my account is suspended such that the only thing I can do is withdraw my assets. I have to do this before April 10th. Fine. (Side note - yeah, I have adhd, which means of course I put off dealing with this until practically last minute.)

I have other wallets, etc., and for some of the coins I have on KuCoin, I’ve had no real issue transferring them out. However, those coins had low fees to do so. Now what few currencies I have left on KuCoin fall into two categories: “not enough to meet the minimum to withdraw” and “enough to withdraw but the fees to do so feels like robbery”. However, if you move the money on the KCC network, the fees are super reasonable. Enter my Bitcoin holdings on KuCoin, which amount to a total of ~$100.

To send BTC to, say, Coinbase, would cost me almost half. So my $100 becomes $50. Not cool. But if I send my BTC on KCC network, I pay MUCH less.

I can’t trade on KuCoin exchange for currency that is cheaper to transfer. None of my other wallets work with KCC network for Bitcoin. Metamask does, but I have to add KCC network manually.

I do so. Then, thinking I was all set, I decide to send the minimum amount of BTC to Metamask to see if it works.

KuCoin says transaction complete, however Metamask shows me a big goose-egg. Cue me frantically trying to figure out what I did wrong. After a bunch of googling and troubleshooting and learning that Metamask is “Eth-only” and cursing at myself for not being more thoroughly informed prior to transacting, I finally import/manually add the BTC to Metamask. EXCEPT, it’s - from what I gather from my cursory googling- no longer BTC, but wrapped BTC. The token shows up as follows: ERC20 PegToken BTCK.

Now I am at a loss what to do. Ideally, I can “unwrap” it and get it back to BTC without substantial loss to amount/value. But if not, exchanging it to USDT or whatever is fine too. But I don’t know how or where or what…

I am hoping someone here can help with explaining what it is I did, what I can do….

I still have BTC on KuCoin I need to transfer out but I don’t want to send more in this manner if this is a dead end of sorts.

Hopefully my situation is clear and someone can help me. Any/all info or advice would be great. Thanks in advance!!

ETA: I have just posted this on the CryptoHelp subreddit - which I did not know about until I read the automoderator message below - but I’m going to leave this post up for a bit longer in case someone sees it and takes pity on me.
