The Delaware County Office of the Aging: (COSA) will host a free two-day Healthy Steps Fall Prevention Workshop, 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, March 19 to 26 at the Wayne Senior Center, 108 Station Rd., Wayne. Complimentary fall risk assessments will be offered at Wayne Senior Center on Wednesday, March 12, by scheduled appointment only. The program’s focus is on environmental and home safety; nutrition; maintaining an active lifestyle; foot health; social connectedness; sensory deficits; mental and spiritual well-being; side effects of medication; exercises to increase strength, balance and flexibility; and more. The Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease Program: is available for those age 60 and older. They are invited to lace up their walking shoes and join The Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA), in collaboration with Lansdowne Department of Parks and Recreation. The program is free and begins Tuesday, March 25, and will run each Tuesday for six weeks, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., through April 29 at the 20th Century Club, 84 S. Lansdowne Ave., Lansdowne. Program participants will receive the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease Guide Book free and will walk once a week together as well as on their own during the week. Participants will share and receive support, motivation, and information from the leader and from other walkers at weekly group meetings. All program costs are covered by COSA. Wreath-making class: during the Media Recreation Board’s Maker Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every month in the Parlor Room of Media Borough Hall. America celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026: and Philadelphia, the birthplace of the nation, is at the epicenter of the celebration. Get ready for the party by taking a class, or more, this spring with a Philly focus at Wallingford Swarthmore Community Classes.

Topics for spring classes will include:

• “A Layman’s Look at the U.S. Constitution,” including the Bill of Rights and subsequent amendments

• “Quakerism’s First 75 Years,” focusing on the first two generations of Quaker history, beginning in England and crossing the Atlantic to the United States

• “The Mischianza: Philly during the Revolutionary War,” exploring one of the weirdest, most over-the-top events in city history

• “The Philadelphia Region in Early American History” will examine Philly’s role in the economic, political and military history of the United States from 1740 to 1815.

In Philadelphia-related topics:

• “Interesting Twists on Places You Know,” offering new insights into Philadelphia’s icons and milestones

• “Behind the Production of ‘Mic’d Up’ with the Eagles,” taking a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating program content for everyone’s favorite NFL team.

WSCC has also added “Fun with Felt” to its roster of popular arts and crafts classes.

New and back-by-demand classes include: Success with Container Gardening; Creating Stained Glass; Watercolor for Everyone; Intro to Drawing; Quilting with Panels; Easy Handmade Books and Zentangle.

Introductory French joins the WSCC’s lineup of introductory language classes, including Italian and German.

WSCC has added a class titled “Getting Our Ducks in a Row,” or getting affairs in order, to its list of classes related to healthy aging and financial decision making.

Additionally, classes will include a new birding expedition, Snow Geese and Sandwiches, in mid-February.

Fitness classes will be offered in yoga, Pilates and tai chi. Cooking classes with a special emphasis on plant-based recipes, wine classes, museum tours and more are part of the spring lineup.

Delaware County Special Olympics will hold bingo: at 6 p.m. Friday, March 28 at the Brookhaven Community Center, 2 Cambridge Road, Brookhaven. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. The fundraiser will also feature raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door for 10 games and gift card prizes. Joseph Dreams Inc.: will offer a free diabetes self-management program for people with or at-risk for diabetes, beginning 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Friends Meeting House in Chester. The small-group, six-week workshop will teach the skills needed in the day-to-day management of diabetes and is designed to help people gain self-confidence with the ability to maintain or increase life’s activities. The workshop group will meet once a week for 2½ hours. The live meetings are highly interactive, focusing on building skills, sharing experiences and support. Participants will be able to ask questions to assist in problem solving, learn how to make weekly action plans, and work with their own health care teams. People who are age 60 and older and living with HIV: can attend a highly interactive six-week workshop once a week. The virtual program is free and will run, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, April 8 through May 13, via Zoom. Participants can learn ways to self-manage HIV and its symptoms, and other chronic conditions as they age, as well as gain support from others with HIV and other health issues, becoming a self-manager and self-advocate. Penn-Delco School District: opens kindergarten and new student registration for 2025-26. Families can complete the enrollment process through Skyward, the district’s online student information system. All students attending Penn-Delco schools must reside within the district. Families enrolling a child in kindergarten should note that children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025, to be eligible. The district is proud to offer a full-day kindergarten program at each of its elementary schools, ensuring a strong foundation for young learners. When registering, it is important to select the correct school year (2025-2026) in Skyward. If the current school year (2024-2025) is selected by mistake, families will need to restart the process, as registrations cannot be transferred. Registration is not considered complete until the online application has been submitted, and all required documents have been received, reviewed, and approved by the district. Wallingford-Swarthmore Kindergarten Registration: for 2025-26 is open.  To be eligible for kindergarten admission in September 2025, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025. No exceptions. Students must be registered by Feb. 28 to be eligible for the lottery to select a.m./p.m. The district offers online registration at www.wssd.org/registration.  Questions concerning online registration should be directed to Derrick L. The Italian Cultural Center: Of The Delaware Valley inside the historic Lazaretto Building on the waterfront in Tinicum Township, is open. Volunteers are needed to help out during summer visiting hours, which are 2 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays. Nar-Anon Family Group: Courage to Live meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Brookhaven Municipal Center, 2 Cambridge Road, Brookhaven.  All those affected by a loved one’s addiction are welcome. The meeting is wheelchair accessible.

The Delaware County Victim Assistance Center: in Media has been providing services to victims of sexual assault and to their significant others since 1974. The nonprofit agency depends on volunteers to meet the needs of clients 24 hours a day. Services include hospital/police interview accompaniment, and telephone crisis intervention. Volunteers receive a 40-hour training to prepare them for their responsibilities and are asked to provide support at least twice a month for an evening or weekend shift. The center offers free: and confidential counseling in person and through a 24-hour hotline to victims of sexual assault. It provides medical, police and court accompaniment. The center also facilitates support groups for adult survivors of sexual abuse, adult rape survivors, and teen survivors of sexual assault.
