KOTA KINABALU (June 29): President of the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC), Datuk Frankie Liew, has called on Sabah entrepreneurs to boldly venture into the vast China market, which boasts a population of 1.416 billion people.

He noted that Sabah is home to many unique, national-level specialty products with strong potential to shine in China’s consumer landscape.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, Liew highlighted the upcoming Henan Investment and Trade Fair, scheduled to take place from September 26 to 28, 2025, as a golden opportunity for Sabah businesses to access and connect with the China market.

He shared that the organizers have allocated 30 exhibition booths to the Sabah China Economic Conference, describing it as a rare and valuable opportunity. He urged interested entrepreneurs to seize this chance to actively participate, establish connections with China business counterparts, and showcase Sabah’s specialty products in China.

At the same time, this platform could help attract China investments into Sabah and foster mutually beneficial, win-win partnerships, thereby contributing to the economic growth of Sabah and Malaysia as a whole.

The Henan Investment and Trade Fair (Henan Fair) is the only economic and trade event in Henan Province officially approved by the China government and hosted by the Henan Provincial Government. It has successfully held 14 editions to date and is recognized as Henan’s largest, highest-level, and most influential international economic and trade event.

The 14th Henan Fair attracted high-level delegations from 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China, and saw participation from 29,000 business delegates representing 43 countries and regions.

The fair featured over 20 economic and trade events, including the opening ceremony and a high-level forum, as well as both comprehensive and specialized exhibition areas. The exhibition covered 60,000 square meters, with more than 600 top-quality domestic and international companies participating — setting new records for participation, exhibition space and product diversity.

The 15th Henan Fair will take place in Zhengzhou from September 25 to 28. With the theme “Sharing New Opportunities for Development, Building a New Highland of Openness”, the fair will promote two-way openness, domestic-international linkages, and a combined focus on investment, trade and consumption. It aims to support the building of a unified national market and serve as a strategic hub for dual domestic and international economic circulation.

A series of key economic and trade activities will be held, including industry matching, project negotiations, exhibitions, and international and regional cooperation forums.

Major highlights will include the official opening ceremony, a session on New Opportunities under the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area Version 3.0, the China (Henan) Enterprises Go to Africa Forum, industry-specific dialogues on topics such as AI-powered industrial development, innovative pharmaceuticals and international cooperation, and new retail development.

The total planned exhibition space is approximately 65,000 square meters, featuring a comprehensive exhibition area showcasing provincial strengths and leading industries, international and domestic cooperation zones.

There are seven specialized exhibition areas: New energy vehicles, Food, Pharmaceuticals and medical devices, Digital economy, New retail, High-quality export goods, and Imported specialty products
Liew also mentioned that on September 27, participants will have the opportunity to join a cultural and business tour to Luoyang, Kaifeng, and the renowned Shaolin Temple, offering both business insights and cultural enrichment.

He added that the registration deadline is Saturday, July 19, 2025.
