FANS of Married At First Sight Australia were left stunned when a groom made a shock return to the hit show.

Katie Johnstone and Tim Gromie struggled to get on following their nuptials, with Tim even flying back to Melbourne and refusing to move in with Katie after their honeymoon.

A MAFS groom made a shock return to the hit E4 show tonight The experts and couples were totally shocked Katie was left looking defeated as her husband walked into the first commitment ceremony Tim came back after flying home to Melbourne He sat down beside Katie but didn’t say anything

On the night of their wedding, Tim woke Katie up to say he didn’t feel a spark.

He has also criticised her appearance, saying he preferred more “petite women” – with fans slamming him for “fat shamming”.

Then, after attending the very first dinner party – separately – Tim was accused of “gaslighting” Katie into making her believe she was the problem, when she wasn’t.

And now, during the first commitment ceremony of the series, Tim made a shock return.

Totally not expecting him to walk through the door, the MAFS couples, Katie, and the experts were all left with their jaws on the floor.

After everybody arrived in the room for the commitment ceremony, a noise was heard before everybody looked at the door.

Tim then walked in, leaving everyone shocked.

Katie was left speechless as she admitted she didn’t think he would turn up after he failed to move in with her and instead flew home to Melbourne.

As Tim walked into the room, viewers reacted on Reddit.

One person said: “Tim genuinely makes me shudder.”

While a second said: “Tim, get out, nobody wants you here!”

“Why is he so red in the face? Quite the scurrying entrance,” said a third.

Later in the episode, the pair sat on the couch with the experts and spoke about their experience so far.

Katie said that she was “really hurt” by Tim in the beginning, with it “clear that he didn’t get what he wanted” and quickly ran back to Melbourne.

She then spoke about how she wasn’t what he wanted in terms of hair colour and stature.

Katie then said that she was expecting to hear from Tim after the dinner party, but didn’t get any communication, with him flying back home.

The experts were stunned and quickly asked Tim for his side of the story.

“I said the spark’s not there, let’s see if we can build it as friends,” Tim said he told Katie on the night of their wedding.

He then said that on the honeymoon, Katie was “reading emails” and not listening to him.

“I came here for love, not to do work,” Tim said, adding how he wanted to build a spark.

“I was hoping Katie would reach out,” he said, implying her wanted to speak to her after the honeymoon.

The experts then asked if he reached out to her, with him saying he did not.

He then said he was “hopeful”, which is why he returned to the show.

The experts were baffled and asked Tim what he was hopeful about, and why he felt that way.

“I wanted someone to get to know me and that didn’t happen,” he said.

The experts then said he was “talking at her” at the dinner party, which was “gaslighting 101” as he “deflected” everything onto her.

“You made her feel like she was going crazy,” said John, the expert, who then said he felt brokenhearted when Katie blamed herself for the downfall of the relationship.

“I feel like it’s a lot on me, and it just hasn’t been the other way back,” Tim added.

Katie then chose to leave, with Tim also choosing to leave the experiment.

“Poor Katie,” said one person on Reddit, adding how Tim had “absolutely wasted her experience”.

“He rejected her and expected her to be there for him. He doesn’t want someone not there for him and yet he was never there for her, shut up Tim you hypocrite,” said a second.
