Jannik Sinner’s Surprise Split: A Bold Move Or A Risky Gamble?

Jannik Sinner is missing the Miami Masters title defense after making an agreement with WADA over his doping case. The Italian will return to action in May at the home Rome Masters, with changes in his management!

World no. 1 made a surprising move after parting ways with his longtime agent, Lawrence Frankopan, and StarWing Sports agency after five years. He will now be exclusively represented by AVIMA Sports & Business Management.

Alex Vittur, a key figure in Jannik's career since his early days, will now take full control of his business affairs under AVIMA. The decision comes at a crucial moment, as Sinner serves a three-month suspension following a controversial doping case settlement.

The Italian closed a significant chapter of his life, with StarWing's management leading him throughout his professional career. Alongside three Major titles under their guidance, Jannik became one of the sport's most marketable athletes.

The youngster had secured high-profile endorsements with brands like Gucci, Rolex, and Lavazza. The split with StarWing raises questions about the future of those partnerships, although his contracts should be safe. 

The new management will try to preserve them and secure further opportunities, especially if Jannik maintains his incredible run once he returns. Sinner expressed gratitude toward Frankopan and StarWing, acknowledging their support over the years.

The move signals a new chapter that will test Jannik's resilience on the court and his ability to navigate the complex world of sports business at the highest level. The Italian has dominated the men's tennis in 2024, winning 73 of 79 encounters.

Jannik lifted eight ATP titles, including six notable ones! He became a proud owner of two Majors, three Masters 1000 crows and the ATP Finals champion. Thus, he left everyone behind and wrapped up the season as the year-end no. 1.

Jannik continued where he left off last year and defended his Australian Open trophy this January. World no. 1 dropped two sets in seven matches, toppling Ben Shelton and Alexander Zverev en route to his third Major trophy at 23.

He made an agreement with WADA in February, accepting a three-month suspension and preparing his return to Foro Italico in May.
