Closing My Business And Getting A 9-to-5 — Time For A Reset And A Fresh Start

Hey, I just wanted to vent a little. In November 2022, I started my first business at the age of 20. The company didn’t bring me much profit, and I kept stressing about it — my lack of knowledge didn’t really allow me to grow. Well, it wasn’t just the lack of knowledge. There was also a lack of ideas for development. Over time, I realized that I didn’t really fit into this field, and instead of expanding my current business, I spent the last year looking for something else — without success, probably because of a lack of courage.

Since starting the business, I’ve become more nervous, nothing really brings me joy anymore, and there’s constant stress — plus my ego. Among my friends, I’m the only one who has a business, and I’ve built this image of someone who’s got it all together. I always said things were fine, but the truth is, it only felt that way occasionally. On the other hand, there’s my family — my brother and cousins run their own businesses, and they’re doing really well.

Next week, I have a job interview. I’ve decided I’m done with all this for now — I need some time to mentally take a break from thinking about the business 24/7. We’ll see how that goes. I’ve never worked a regular job before, so I feel like this is still a step forward because right now, I’m just stuck in one place. I also really need to learn some discipline, and I hope a full-time job will help me with that.

Ultimately, I still want to run my own business, but first, I need to save some money — which I just couldn’t manage while “earning” every day. I kept confusing revenue with profit.

So yeah, we’re not giving up — we keep pushing forward!

I’d love to hear your thoughts and if you’ve had similar experiences. How did it turn out for you?
