Built Emd Portfolio For Authority - Now What? (yes A.i. Summarized This Post)

Hey everyone,

I used AI to streamline this post because I didn’t feel like writing a wall of text from scratch. But this isn’t an AI spam post. The plan, domains, and strategy are all mine.

I just wanted to present this clearly without sounding like a mess.

__

I’m a wholesaler in consumer goods — mainly beauty, cosmetics, perfumes, and similar products. After realizing that traditional advertising wasn’t getting me the targeted results I wanted, I decided to switch things up. Instead of burning money on ads, I went all-in on grabbing a ton of exact match domains (EMDs) that I felt had decent search traffic — even if just to position myself as an authority and get some organic presence.

The idea was simple:

  • All the cosmetics-related domains point to an optimized cosmetics landing page.
  • All the fragrance-related domains point to an optimized fragrance landing page.
  • Rinse and repeat for other categories.

At the very least, I figured this setup would give me credibility and visibility — even if it just annoyed my competitors a bit by showing up everywhere. Plus, for what I spent on 50-60 domains (less than what I made from my first deal), it felt like a no-brainer compared to print ads or PPC campaigns.

But now, things have evolved. I’ve branched into other niches and ended up with around 300 domains across a few different categories. I’m organizing them into hubs to stay streamlined:

  1. Wholesale beauty, cosmetics, and FMCG-focused domains
  2. Blockchain and decentralized domains (different venture, although interlinked)
  3. Corporate/branding hub for my main business identity

Here’s the thing — I’m not emotionally attached to any of this. I’m not necessarily trying to "maximize sales" from each page directly. My end goal is more about solidifying keyword presence and making sure those domains hold value — whether I decide to resell, flip to affiliate marketing (I have some consumer-friendly domains that could easily push Sephora ads), or just let them work passively.

I’ve heard conflicting advice about redirects, SEO strategies for EMDs, and the best way to funnel traffic to targeted landing pages without getting penalized or losing the domain value in the process.

So, I’m asking for some guidance:

  • What’s the best way to structure this setup so Google sees me as an authority rather than a domain hoarder?
  • Are redirects still an issue, or is there a better way to consolidate traffic across these domains into the most relevant landing pages?
  • Would I be better off turning some domains into micro-sites instead of redirecting them?
  • Any insights on balancing wholesale and consumer-driven content without tanking my SEO?

If anyone has ideas, advice, or even questions, I’d love to hear them. I’m genuinely grateful for any help. Thanks in advance!
